Tower Records has glitter/fated slated to hit shelves July 18th. The double a-side will be available in both a CD-only and CD+DVD format. No tracklisting yet, nor have other online retailers like CDJapan or Yesasia added it to their catalog, but keep an eye out for it.
As announced earlier, “glitter” will premier May 19th in a Zespri commercial.
SANSPO.com reports that Ayu’s latest song — presumably the one she spoke about recording in her Team Ayu message — has been named “glitter”. Like “BLUE BIRD”, it will be used to promote Zespri Gold kiwis (…), the commercial for which will premier the 19th of this month!
We’re due for a “summer” song; personally, “glitter” makes me think either “JEWEL”-esque ballad or… disco. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully this puts us on schedule for the July single.
According to members of Ayuchina With the Asia leg of her tour over, Ayu posted a special message for fanclub members talking about her new domestic plans–included recording a new song! Although details are still unknown, it makes the pseudo-rumor of a new single in July even more probable–especially now that other artists like Koda Kumi listed in the former mystery press release have now confirmed the announcement on their websites.
Ayu’s official site has been updated again, but this time with another collaboration with both ASH&DIAMONDS and Sanrio, resulting in two designer straps. Like the ASH&DIAMONDS handbag, this design will be sold through Avex’s Mu-Mo Shop.
It’s been nine years since the release of the poker face single April 8,1998, and Ayu’s still going strong!
A BEST 2 -WHITE- and -BLACK- came in second and third respectively for the month, behind on super-group Mr. Children’s latest album (for a bit of trivia, Mr. Children is one of the bands with whom Ayu shares the 20 million+ sales record. She is still the only female and solo artist to reach such a milestone, though.)
In addition, Ayu arrived in Hong Kong earlier this week for her second show in her first ever overseas arena tour. The reception by adoring fans was just as crazy as her arrival in Taiwan; check out this great Xanga for media of the event or ON.cc for more coverage.
Finally, the Weiider television spot featuring Ayu has premiered (sadly) without a hint at the distant single.
I have to apologize for being the idiot that scheduled 19 credit hours spring quarter. Time isn’t on my side, and news updates will be posted in bulk like this until I (possibly) “recruit” someone to help me.
Ayu recently kicked off her Tour of Secret and completed her first ever concert overseas! It was an all out media frenzy in Taiwan, and the Official concert blog has been updated with a fantastic collection of video and images. In addition, fansite Divine Ayu has accumulated a nice collection of translated news coverage.
Speaking of Secret, both the Secret and (miss)understood earned Ayu another (two!) Gold Disc Award(s). She was one of only two artists to have two albums in the top 10 this year (the other being Koda Kumi). All things considered, she’s staying on top in 2007.

Not surprisingly,the albums A BEST 2 -BLACK- and A BEST 2 -WHITE- made their debut on the Oricon Daily Charts at number one and two, respectively. Oricon Style also posted a special article and video message from Ayu in honor of her latest release.
In addition, Ayu’s latest Panasonic spot, featuring the new song “part of Me” (included on A BEST 2 -BLACK-) has finally been posted on Pansonic’s website (watch the commercial). She looks significantly less creepy in the actual commercial than she does in the accompanying wallpaper.\r\n\r\nIf that weren’t enough, Ayu’s TV schedule has been updated again for an all out promotional blitz.

ABEST2.com features a special video message from Ayu and audio samples for all tracks–including the new song “part of ME”!
Her official schedule has also been updated to reflect the A BEST 2 promotional blitz.
Ayu’s official site has updated with the covers and full tracklistings for all versions of her latest album A BEST 2. The complete PV list has been added to the discography, as has the set list for the COUNTDOWN LIVE concert DVD to be included with A BEST 2 -WHITE-. A BEST 2 -BLACK-‘s new track has also been named “part of Me”.
The new track will be previewed in the latest commercial promoting Panasonic’s Lumix camera. Its accompanying wallpaper has already been added to Panasonic’s official site.

The recent update at the official site also clarified that BEST OF COUNTDOWN LIVE 2006-2007 will only be available on A BEST 2 -WHITE-. It will not receive its own DVD release as previous COUNTDOWN concerts have.
Ayu’s official site kicked off the new year with two very big announcements! First is the official schedule for Asia Tour 2007 ~Tour of Secret~. The tour — which was first publicly addressed in her interview with CNN — will be Ayu’s first outside of Japan, and you can check her official site for dates and ticket information.
Second is the announcement of A BEST 2, Ayu’s long-awaited second single collection! It’s due in stores February 28th in two formats: A BEST 2 -BLACK- and A BEST 2 -WHITE- both come with a CD and 2 DVDs with different songs and footage (including music videos and documentaries). There is also at least one new song set to make its debut.
In addition, Ayu finished off the year with two best-selling albums; (miss)understood was 2006′s 8th best selling album while November’s Secret slid in at 22. All in all, this makes her the fifth best selling artist of 2006! Considering this year also marked her 40th single and made her the best selling female and solo act in Japan’s history, I’d say 2006 was a good year. ‘Wish Ayu all the best in 2007.
