2009 Tour Takes Your Questions
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009
Ayu is now taking questions for her latest tour. Just fill out this form and there’s a chance she’ll answer your burning question during the 2009 Arena Tour encore!
Please note that Avex would like to keep questions fun (one example they give is “what would you do if you found a cockroach?”–I think this was from the (miss)understood tour).

Note Regarding Ayu’s Availability on iTunes
Thursday, April 9th, 2009
As some of you have undoubtedly noticed, all Avex artists (Ayumi Hamasaki, Namie Amuro, etc) have mysteriously disappeared from all iTunes stores outside of Japan. This is especially curious when some artists (like BoA and Monkey Majik) had Avex-distributed albums added to their US pages in the last two weeks, and the removal includes all “international” Avex singles like Anna Tsuchiya’s special Resident Evil theme and EXILE’s English song for Street Fighter 4. They were removed from the store on the eve of iTunes’ official, store-wide conversion to DRM-free content, and this more than likely is not a coincidence. However, no official statement has been issued by Avex’s corporate site.
I was reluctant to officially announce this change on my sites in hopes that everything would be straightened out by the end of the week (or two). In the meantime, it may behoove of you to request Ayu and other Avex artists on the iTunes Request Form.

NEXT LEVEL is the #1 Album in the World
Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Ayu’s latest album NEXT LEVEL has officially finished its first week at number one on both the Oricon and Billboard Japan charts. Moreover, it pushed enough units to top the United World Chart:
She is one of Asia’s biggest stars and with her new effort ‘Next Level’ Ayumi Hamasaki lands the fouth no.1 on the global chart since the start of that list. The album sold 241.000 copies in its release week.
Her previous effort, a best-of compilation, started at no.2 with 539.000 copies (week 39, 2008) behind Metallica’s ‘Death Magnetic’. The last regular studio-set ‘Guilty’ arrived at no.7 with 202.000 copies (week 2, 2008).
Additionally, NEXT LEVEL marks the eleventh consecutive year Ayu has had a number one album in her native Japan. Congratulations Ayu!
