Rule/Sparkle Available Internationally

All three ver­sions of Ayu’s lat­est sin­gle have been added for pur­chase at all local­iza­tions iTunes Music Store–including the US and UK! Unfor­tu­nately, this does not include the PV, but all of the audio (includ­ing the alter­nate b-sides) is avail­able for purchase.

Panasonic Ad; new song “NEXT LEVEL”

A new Pana­sonic ad is out fea­tur­ing Ayu and a new song: “NEXT LEVEL”, the title track off of her upcom­ing album. The ad uses Ayu and her back-up dancers, singers to adver­tise its face recog­ni­tion technology.

NEXT LEVEL packaging details

The offi­cial site has updated with infor­ma­tion regard­ing how Ayu’s new album will be pack­aged. In addi­tion to their dif­fer­ent con­tents, the pack­ages will come in dif­fer­ent col­ored cases:

• 2CD+DVD — pink
• CD+DVD — blue
• CD-only — green
• USB stick — yel­low (you’ll recall from the pre­vi­ous post that the USB still will come in a dis­play case the size of a CD case)

Yesasia.com, CDJapan, HMV.jp, etc have all four pack­ages up for pre-order, but the USB is in par­tic­u­larly lim­ited quan­tity so far.

New Album: NEXT LEVEL, details

The spe­cial Team Ayu site as well as sev­eral Japan­ese news out­lets have leaked the first bit of infor­ma­tion about Ayu’s forth­com­ing 10th orig­i­nal, full-length album, now titled NEXT LEVEL. The album will be released March 25th and — although there is no news on the track­list­ing — it will be avail­able in a total of four packages:

1. 2CD+DVD that will con­tain the new album, a Pre­mium Count­down Live live audio record­ing, and a DVD with the stan­dard music videos and “mak­ing of” clips.
2. CD+DVD with the new album and PV/“making of” DVD
3. CD-only with just the new album
4. A USB ver­sion that will include all of the new stu­dio record­ings, DVD con­tent, and dig­i­tal book­let con­tained on a spe­cially designed USB device shaped like her 10th Anniver­sary logo. It will come in a spe­cial CD-sized case to keep with the rest of your Ayu albums.

New Album in March?

Avex’s cor­po­rate site uploaded a PDF with their 2009 finan­cial sum­mary and pro­jec­tions. In its sum­mary of pre­vi­ous and expec­tant releases, it listed a new Ayumi Hamasaki album in March. The album is as-of-yet unti­tled and noth­ing has been said about the release on her offi­cial site.

If this pans out, this will be the first time an orig­i­nal album was released in March. The release will also be sand­wiched between her new sin­gle Febu­rary 25th sin­gle Rule/Sparkle and new nation­wide tour that kicks off April 11th.

Official Site Overhaul + Rule/Sparkle CM

Rule Movie Trailer, GREEN PV up for Honors

Fan blog DBthe­movie has uploaded the English-language trailer for the upcom­ing Hol­ly­wood flick Drag­onball: Evo­lu­tion. What could pos­si­bly make this excit­ing? It promi­nately fea­tures Ayu’s new song “Rule”!

Addi­tion­ally, Ayu’s PV for “GREEN” has been nom­i­nated in Space Shower TV’s annual music video awards. The video is nom­i­nated for Best Art Direc­tion. You may recall her pre­vi­ous video to be nom­i­nated in this cat­e­gory was “part of Me” last year.

The offi­cial site now has all three cov­ers for the new sin­gle posted as well as infor­ma­tion about the first press. All three ver­sions of the sin­gle will be avail­able with the first-press pic­ture disc fea­tur­ing Mr. Toriyama’s artwork.

Rule/Sparkle Cover and Bonus Illustration

Sanspo.com has unveiled the (or, one of the) cov­ers for Ayu’s upcom­ing Rule/Sparkle sin­gle. More impor­tantly, it revealed that leg­endary man­gaka Akira Toriyama — cre­ator of Drag­onball — re-imagined Ayu as one of his char­ac­ters for the discs.

Rule/Sparkle Gets Remixed

Ayu’s offi­cial site updated the track­list­ing for Rule/Sparkle, her new sin­gle drop­ping later this month. Each ver­sion of the sin­gle now fea­tures two remixes of “Rule”, while the CD-only ver­sion each fea­tures a new remix of “Days” or “GREEN”.
